Language is a uniquely human gift, central to our experience of being human. Appreciating its role in constructing our mental lives brings us one step closer to understanding the very nature of humanity.

More than one in seven Australians speaks a language other than English at home. The most widely spoken languages besides English are Italian, Greek, Cantonese, Arabic and Mandarin. As a whole we speak about 200 languauges.

200 years ago 250 Indigenous languages were spoken!

Today many Indigenous languages are endangered. We can take action to make sure there are no more lost languages by making sure languages are taught and celebrated.
