This is Amal's story about her journey from Egypt to Australia. Leaving behind loved ones, Amal first moved to Brisbane and then to Sydney. She talks about the challenges she has faced, including racism and discrimination, and her hopes for a new life.
This story was developed as part of the project: Human Rights Education and Advocacy with Community Development Workers working with Muslim women.
This project aims to develop meaningful and sustainable ways of engaging and supporting Muslim women experiencing discrimination and racism, and building capacity in their communities.
This project is run by the Australian Human Rights Commission in partnership with Outreach, TAFE, Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE), and the Bankstown Area Multicultural Network (BAMN).
