Inspired by several true stories from the 1980s, Lucky Miles tells the very human story of three refugees from different cultures, abandoned on a remote part of the Western Australian coast and left to fend for themselves. The three men begin an epic but confused journey; attempting to survive together and to survive each other during their desperate attempt to find evidence of civilisation in the harsh Pilbara desert.
In a refreshing comical touch, the film demonstrates the challenges many 'illegal' refugees face when seeking a better life in Australia and their search for evidence of the western, liberal democracy that they believe Australia to be.
